Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The view and location are amazingly beautiful They have a shop (the only in Bjorkliden) which is very well equipped to survive if you stay in self-catering accommodation. For the remoteness the shop was not so expensive. We where there in low season and not many rooms where occupied. We ask to check out 1 hour later and we were allowed and not asked to pay extra. I thought that was very accommodating. The breakfast was very good. Beds are comfortable.

Negative: The rooms and bathrooms are incredibly small making it somewhat cramped in. They hotel and shop refuse to take cash (only shop in Bjorkliden). If you are a foreigner and the system is temporarily down and your credit card is not working, you will have to go hungry. It can turn out in a bad situation. Every country in the world is not digitally where Sweden is, and the hotel and shop should be accommodating and understanding which they are not due to their cashless rules. We also had a delay on the train when we had to travel from Abisko to Bjorkliden which is only 10 minutes' drive apart. There was NO taxi services available in the area! We called the hotel, and they said Sory they are not able to assist. You can end up being stuck completely with a delayed train, no taxi service and the hotel that does not provide help either. When we eventually arrived with the delayed train there was no one to pick us up on the train station in Bjorkliden. If you are not equipped yet with snow gear you will slip and hurt yourself up the hill with all your luggage.
